Provides direct patient care in a secured/locked environment to offenders.
Assist the offender population with activities of daily living while integrating nursing care between professional disciplines.
Assists with caring for the mental health and physical needs of offenders.
Provides quality nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Assists with performing activities of daily living for offenders while maintaining accountability in a safe, secure and therapeutic environment.
Observes, reports, document and communicate interventions, treatments, behaviors, emergent needs and situations as they arise.
Required to work both weekend and rotating shifts in order to provide the institution with 24 hour/ 7 day a week medical coverage.
Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia CNA license issued by the board of nursing (if you are a recent graduate of a CNA program in VA and not licensed, the NNAAP exam must be scheduled at the time of application).
Knowledge of patient care, personal care techniques, and infection control measures.
Demonstrated ability to take and record vital signs; to transfer and transport patients in a safe manner using proper body mechanics; to recognize signs and symptoms indicating distress; and to perform CPR.
Appropriately intervene in crisis or problem situations.
Ability to work in a secure/locked environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, take initiative, organize duties, and manage time.
Prefer working in a hospital, nursing, or secured patient environment.
Skilled in the use of a computer to include Google mail (professional email client) and Microsoft Office.
