Job Duties
Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units. (This is a part-time, wage position with no benefits. Hours may not exceed 1500 in a year between May 1st – April 30th).
The Nutrition Services Aide will also assist in the dining room to support the residents as necessary. Other duties to include: preparing food in accordance with prescribed resident diet specifications, facility procedures, production sheets, and dietary and sanitary regulations under the supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services and supervisors. Will be involved in the delivery of meal carts or trays to residents, washing pots and pans, assisting in the preparation and the assembly of food trays, waste removal, cleaning resident’s food trays, and assisting with basic food preparation.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with others, including staff members and residents.
Preferred Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent
Experience in food services/nutrition services
Experience working in a long term care facility or hospital
