About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a wage Office Services Specialist in our Office of Legal Affairs at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will provide clerical and filing support to the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) and in particular the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Section; review, route, and scan correspondence and emails; upload requests and subpoenas into the NEXTREQ database; answer phones and route constituent inquiries to the appropriate staff; assist OLA by providing covering administrative duties when the OLA secretary is absent; review basic FOIA requests and conduct basic research to locate responsive records; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
•Working knowledge of office practices, procedures, and experience in using word processing systems. •Skill in the operation of computers and using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel; and in operating standard office equipment such as fax and copy machines. •Demonstrated ability to review and analyze data; to enter, delete, retrieve, manipulate, and correct information in automated databases or electronic records; sort mail, file, answer telephone calls, send and receive faxes, relay messages, greet visitors, and schedule meetings; to work independently and as a member of a team; to communicate orally and in writing in English; and to follow written and oral instructions/policies, paying close attention to details. •High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Additional Considerations
• Administrative support experience preferred. • Paralegal certificate preferred. • FOIA experience in a government environment preferred. • Experience in a law enforcement setting preferred.
