The Department of Pediatrics Division of General Pediatrics, at the University of Virginia Children's Hospital, seeks candidates for a non-tenure eligible clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, to join their growing team at UVA Pediatrics at Orange. The position is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in advancing his/her career through excellence in clinical practice, teaching, quality improvement, and advocacy. Rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.
UVA Pediatrics at Orange is located in the rural community of Orange, VA, 45 minutes from Charlottesville. There are currently 6 faculty members, a full-time social worker, and a dedicated nursing staff. Pediatrics at Orange achieved NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home Certification in 2019 and is the only UVA Pediatric practice with this distinction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to the ideals of the PCMH model of care, which includes team-based care, care coordination, performance measurement and quality improvement. S/he will actively participate in the maintenance of certification activities, including Quality Improvement projects (6-8 per year) and monthly PCMH meetings.
The position requires excellent clinical and teaching skills and experience necessary to precept residents and medical students.
The Division of General Pediatrics is currently comprised of 38 full and part-time pediatricians. The Division has outstanding collaborative working relationships with other pediatric subspecialists, our surgical colleagues and our colleagues in adult medicine.
The University of Virginia Health is composed of the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, University Physicians Group and the Medical Center. The Medical Center is a 735-bed, level 1 trauma center that serves as the primary, specialty and sub-specialty hospital for central Virginia. The University of Virginia consists of 13 schools in Charlottesville, plus College at Wise in rural Southwest Virginia. The University of Virginia is in Charlottesville, a cultured, cosmopolitan community with a charming, small-town feel. Located in a beautiful setting surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, the region is home to several historical places of interest.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must be board certified/eligible in pediatrics and have an M.D. degree or equivalent.
Priority candidate review will begin on January 22, 2023 but the position will remain open until filled.

Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The successful candidate will pass a criminal background check and pre-employment health and drug screenings.
This position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with SOM Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
