The University of Virginia
The Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia invite applications for two tenured or tenure-track positions in the field of catalysis for energy and large-scale chemical processes. The positions are part of UVA's investment of $60 million toward climate solutions through the University's Grand Challenge Research Initiatives, which includes investments in research infrastructure and up to six new faculty positions in the area of catalysis for energy and chemical processes.
These new faculty members will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary research community in the departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Both Departments offer a collegial and supportive environment, and many opportunities for collaboration within and between the Schools of Arts & Sciences and Engineering. Both positions will be open to any rank (assistant, associate or full professor) with the rank and tenure status being commensurate with experience level. Primary appointment can be in either the Department of Chemistry or the Department of Chemical Engineering.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related field at the time of appointment, a record of excellence in scientific research, and a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Existing strengths in heterogenous catalysis, electrocatalysis, fuel cells, electrolyzers, or membranes with an emphasis on energy and sustainability will be given priority. In line with UVA’s commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, both broadly across the university and in STEM fields, applicants should highlight in their application evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion to accelerate equity for underrepresented groups.
