The University of Virginia School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is seeking applicants for two pediatric scientists to join our Child Health Research Center. This position is >80% research, with clinical effort accorded depending on the candidate’s needs. The candidate should have very strong commitment to improve the understanding of disease in children by promoting fundamental research efforts that will serve as the future basis for new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and a successful research program in clinical, translational, or basic science research. Compensation and recruitment package will depend on the candidate’s qualifications. Salary, rank, and track are dependent upon qualifications and experience. Our faculty, including NIH-funded physicians and scientists will provide strong mentoring for a junior physician-scientist, leading towards independence in translational, clinical, or basic research. The position provides unique opportunity to align the research interests with clinical activities in effort to implement state-of-the-art, evidence-based preventive strategies and treatment opportunities for children with kidney disease. In this capacity, the candidate will coordinate clinical activities with a multi-disciplinary group, including clinicians, other physician-scientist, and ancillary services providers. The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment on the Tenure track in the Department of Pediatrics at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
