The McIntire School of Commerce invites applications for an Operations Associate to provide administrative coordination to and support the logistics of the McIntire Help Desk. The Operations Associate will primarily provide administrative support to the McIntire Help Desk mainly by directing student workers and managing purchasing and other logistical requests, but will occasionally provide basic technical support to McIntire users. Training will be provided for all technical responsibilities. This position will report to McIntire’s Director of IT Operations and will coordinate with other members of the IT department on a regular basis.

What you will do:
Administrative duties
Manage a team of 8-10 Help Desk student workers - set their schedules, approve time cards, provide training, and work with Help Desk manager to hire/fire student workers as needed
Work with UVA Facilities Management on all requests for new or replacement door keys at the School; ensure the Help Desk has an appropriate stock of replacement/spare keys at all times
Manage all purchasing requests for the McIntire IT Operations group, using an assigned UVA purchasing card and/or the purchase order requisition process
Work with the McIntire business office to ensure purchases are properly reconciled
Fill out service request forms with UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) as directed
Edit technology and facility content on the MyMcIntire employee/student “portal” as directed
Manage communications to the McIntire community (using digital signage, mass email, or other approved tools) as directed
Perform other admin duties as assigned
Technical responsibilities
Provide occasional coverage at the McIntire Help Desk (via email, phone, or in person)
Create tickets in response to user requests, following provided guidelines
Perform basic troubleshooting and tech support, following the provided training materials
This could include password assistance, wifi connection help, email configuration, Zoom troubleshooting, etc.
Where possible, assist users in finding self-service information on the MyMcIntire portal relevant to their request
Escalate to other McIntire IT or UVA ITS channels of support as needed
Qualifications:
High School diploma, with at least one year of relevant experience
Must have experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be comfortable using technology and learning new systems
Must be detail-oriented with strong organization skills, and must have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
Strong customer-service orientation and professionalism, and a commitment to building collaborative and highly productive relationships with multiple stakeholders (staff, students, employers, faculty, and alumni)
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience supervising student workers or fulltime employees
Preference will be given to candidates with previous UVA experience
Anticipated hiring range: $18.00 - $21.50 / hour
The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check at the time of the offer per University Policy.
