As academic physicians in the evolving field of ophthalmology, we strive to improve the vision and eye health of all people by excelling in patient care, education and research.

Chief Purpose of this position:

The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center supports a large health system providing both primary and tertiary care. We are seeking candidates who will be responsible for direct patient care and supervision in various outpatient ophthalmology settings that include the Main Campus of VCU Health, V.A. Medical Center, and suburban ASC locations.

Position Responsibilities:

Candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction. The incumbent in this position will have a wide range of responsibilities, including fulfilling clinical and surgical duties, research, and teaching to include medical students, interns, and residents.

Required Qualifications:

The incumbent must be board certified/board eligible in Ophthalmology, with subspecialty training in Glaucoma. The candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia. The candidate will have excellent diagnostic and surgical skills and must demonstrate expertise working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Please note that if you are employed as a university employee working in any of the health system’s facilities, you will need to follow VCU Health System policies, which will include but will not be limited to, vaccination requirements.
