Job Description:
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Opticianry Skills Laboratory Assistant provides in-person support for the operation of the Opticianry Program laboratories, clinical, and instructional spaces. This position is responsible for preparing clinical activities, assembling, disassembly, and distribution of skills kits for distance-learning students, routine maintenance of optical equipment, laboratory and clinical inventory management, supporting faculty and students during laboratory sessions, and ensuring a safe, organized, and effective learning environment. The position requires regular on-campus attendance to support hands-on instruction, laboratory and clinical operations, and the preparation of materials for students enrolled in both face-to-face and distance education courses.

- High school diploma or GED.
- Opticianry AAS Degree or Dept. Of Labor and Industry Apprenticeship Certification
- One year of experience in optical dispensing, retail optical services, healthcare, laboratory operations, technical support, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to organize materials, maintain records, and follow detailed procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Virginia State Optician License
- American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification.
- National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) Certification.
- OSHA or workplace safety training.
