Part-Time Custodial Services Worker: Saturday - Sunday 12:00pm - 8:30pm shift (Wage)

Employees perform daily housekeeping services in assigned areas, using safe work practices and proper housekeeping techniques. Work is assigned at the task level and is routinely monitored. Employees maintain good working relationships with customers, staff, students, and supervisors.

The University of Virginia Facilities Management Department seeks a part-time, Custodial Services Worker to fill a vacancy for the following shift in North Grounds: Saturday - Sunday: 12:00pm - 8:30pm

Custodial Services Workers perform exceptional housekeeping services in assigned areas through safe work practices while using proper housekeeping techniques. The position maintains good working relationships with customers, staff, students, and supervisors. The Custodial Services Worker completes special project work as assigned. They gain increasing efficiency with cleaning techniques, supplies, and equipment.

Basic housekeeping experience, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning carpets, cleaning bathrooms and removal of trash is preferred. Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and directions, as well as adhere to regulatory guidelines in daily work is required. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are also essential. Basic computer, tablet, and/or smart phone usage and the ability to submit electronic timesheets are also required.

Duties Include:

• Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, or other assigned areas in clean and orderly condition.
  
• Remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, etc. Apply proper methods and materials. May mix own cleaning solutions.
  
• Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closets and equipment and keep inventories of supplies, requesting additional supplies as needed.
  
• Report all repairs and pest control needs, and any housekeeping-related violations by residents, guests, or staff.
  
• May perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing bulbs, or more complex tasks including operating cleaning equipment such as buffers or waxers.
  
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
  

Some experience with basic housekeeping duties including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning carpets, cleaning bathrooms and removal of trash in a workplace setting is preferred.

Position Compensation: $15.00 - $16.00 Hourly

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties as a housekeeper, such as dusting and mopping, etc. This job requires a range of continual movement including: traveling, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting and lifting.
