The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide support for research subjects that are seen within the Radiology and Medical Imaging Research core. The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of the MRI Operations Manager, who supports research across the institution that requires MRI medical imaging.
The incumbent will perform services that support the MRI Operations Manager and that assist research subjects participating in various research studies.These may include meeting and assisting research subjects visiting the core, accompanying subjects to the scanner, or general room setup. In addition, the MRI Patient Care Technician will perform other support functions as needed and perform duties to provide a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
Work schedule: Tuesday through Thursday 4 pm to 9 pm
Hourly compensation: Based on relevant education and experience, but hourly rate will be in the range of $20/hour
Work Location: Sheridan G. Snyder Translational Research Building

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.
Preferred qualifications:
Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must meet one of the following criteria (required):
(1) Successful completion of the UVa PCT Education Program OR Successful completion of another PCT Education Program that has been approved by NPDS.
(2) Documented proof of at least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) experience in a similar PCT role from an outside institution. Candidate must successfully complete a written exam and must successfully demonstrate clinical skills during 6 month probationary period.
(3) Passage of a nationally recognized and accredited PCT Certification exam. (Example - National Healthcareer Association -C-PCT). Present Certificate as verification.
OR must meet one of the following criteria (required):
(1) Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic are exempt from the Certified Nurse Aide requirement.
(2) EMT or above certification. Candidate will complete the UVA PCT Course within 6-month probationary period.
