Mission or Goal of Unit: The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transforming the division into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.
Chief Purpose of this position: We invite candidates to apply for our bone marrow transplant physician position. The Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy (CIT) role will provide support the division in its continuity of care for new and existing patients. The division and CHoR are part of the NCI-designated Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center. Currently, the division is the only facility providing pediatric stem cell transplantation in Virginia. CHoR is a qualified treatment center for gene therapy for hemoglobinopathies and CAR-T therapy to pediatric patients. The CIT section consists of a multi-disciplinary team and works closely with the adult CIT program headed by Dr. John McCarty. Additionally, the division offers a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship with support for a fourth year.
