Plastic Surgery - Surgery Scheduler

The Role

As a Plastic Surgery OR Scheduler, you will serve as an essential operational partner to providers and clinical teams, ensuring that every step of the surgical scheduling process is managed with accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service. This is a fast-paced role that combines patient interaction, administrative coordination, insurance workflow management, and surgical logistics.

A typical day may include:

• Scheduling surgical procedures for Plastic Surgery providers

• Coordinating complex and joint cases with multiple specialties and departments

• Managing pre-operative and post-operative appointment scheduling

• Monitoring insurance authorization status, approvals, denials, and follow-up actions

• Communicating with patients through Epic, MyChart, phone, and email

• Supporting providers during clinic sessions and assisting with real-time scheduling needs

• Preparing and communicating cosmetic surgery quotes

• Managing provider schedules, clinic templates, and out-of-office coverage

• Coordinating surgery timelines across multidisciplinary teams

• Monitoring OR block utilization and releasing unused time to maximize efficiency

• Responding to patient inquiries, provider requests, and urgent scheduling needs

Success in this role requires exceptional organization, multitasking ability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. You will work under limited supervision while helping coordinate highly individualized care plans that directly impact patient outcomes and experiences.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent required, Associates Degree in a related field preferred.

Experience: Internal Candidates: Demonstrated proficiency in the duties of the Access Associate Senior role. External Candidates: 3 years’ experience in a clinical setting (hospital, surgery center or ambulatory clinic) in an administrative or clinical role required.

License/Certification: None Required. For Access Lead positions CHAA or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) by HFMA required within 18 months of hire date.

The pay range for this role is $21.50 - $33.28 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
