Job Duties

Performs repair, preventative maintenance, and service of all plumbing systems according to building codes and standards. Supervises, assigns work and trains supervisee work crews on repairs and/or maintenance assigned as plumber’s helpers. Keys data into the Total Maintenance System (TMS) for preventative and inventory purposes. Supervises inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the facility. May respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis. May assist in other areas of Building and Grounds department.

Please Note: This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Considerable knowledge of corrective maintenance, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance related to plumbing/steam-fitting. Demonstrated skill in the use of tools and supplies related to the trade. Demonstrated ability to keep narrative and statistical records relating to the maintenance and repair of equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer demonstrated ability to lead and supervise the work of others. Completion from vocational/technical school, completion of apprenticeship and/or sufficient on-the-job training (OJT) in trade activities. Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings. Multiple trades experience.
