Job Duties
Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) seeks Police Officers to provide a secure environment for clients, staff and visitors by performing preventive patrols, preliminary and follow up investigations of crimes, offenses, incidents and by maintaining effective patrols for the security of the buildings and grounds. Respond to public requests for emergency and non-emergency services. Provide traffic direction, control and the enforcement of traffic laws and local ordinances as well as emergency assistance and liaison with other emergency services agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and generally accepted police procedures.
Constitutional safeguards regarding arrest, search and seizure and use of force including deadly force.
Principles of building and personnel security.
Positive behavioral intervention strategies.
Skills in:
Use of police equipment and weapons.
Ability to:
Deal effectively with a diverse group of people and to effectively guide them in emergencies.
Meet the physical requirements of position.
Additional requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Significant work-related experience.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have a Valid Virginia driver's license.
Candidate must be currently certified as a Law Enforcement Officer through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
Subsequent to a conditional offer of employment, applicants must undergo a physical examination conducted under the supervision of a licensed physician, pre-employment drug screening and an extensive background investigation. (State Code 15.2 -1705)
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or bachelor's degree in related field.
Knowledge of various disabilities and skill in working with people with disabilities.
