Job Description
The Post Award Support Specialists are an integral part of a dedicated team of professionals in the Office of Sponsored Programs working to ensure that obligations for sponsored programs align with federal, state, university regulations, and the sponsor’s requirements. The Post Award Support Specialists organizes large volumes of information and works closely with others in the office to deliver consistent results to internal and external stakeholders, while also displaying a high level of professionalism and customer service. The Post Award Support Specialists supports the Post Award Team by functioning effectively and with limited supervision in a fast-moving environment to facilitate funded awards activities such as modifications, closeouts and rebudgeting needs.
There are multiple 1500-hour wage appointments and depending on the strengths of the successful candidates, detailed duties will be confirmed upon hire.
Position is located in Blacksburg, VA and may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or significant relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping/ accounting practices and/or budgeting.
- Demonstrated experience and/or college coursework with emphasis on accounting, finance, or government/business regulations and administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of stakeholders internal and external to the university.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of budgets
- Ability to synthesize and interpret applicable federal, state, corporate, university or private regulations, or comparable legal/regulatory program experience to ensure compliance
- Experience in handling complex and confidential material
