Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available in microbiology in the lab of Dr. Bryan Hsu in the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA). Work will focus on the design of hydrogel-based menstrual products aiming to improve comfort and hygiene during use. Objectives will include: 1) improved handling and disposal of menstrual fluid while minimizing leakage, 2) preventing septic shock, and 3) reducing pain. Experience in biomaterials, polymer chemistry, and drug delivery is highly desirable. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop their own research directions and interests so long as they have overlap with the goals of the project. Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. with expertise in life sciences, engineering, or a relevant field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- A track record of success in scientific research, communication and peer-reviewed publications are essential, in addition to demonstrated potential for teamwork and mentorship of junior scientists.
