Job Description
The positions will be focused on the synthesis and characterization of advanced battery cathode materials. The project will involve the synthesis of ion intercalating oxide cathode materials for alkali metal ion batteries. The postdoctoral associates will perform electrochemistry on batteries to investigate the crystal and electronic transformations of electrode materials and their interfaces with the electrolyte. The postdocs will use advanced analytical techniques to study battery materials transformation under operating conditions. In particular, the project will use operando/in situ spectroscopy and imaging techniques based on synchrotron X-rays and electron microscopy.
Required Qualifications
-Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or an appropriate related
field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- Experience in the wet-chemical and solid-state synthesis and characterization of Li or Na
battery cathode materials
- Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a research group
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- First author research publications
- Strong experience in synchrotron characterization of battery electrodes and electrolytes
- Presentations at conferences and/or other instances of communicating research work
