Postdoctoral Fellow, Medical Physics - School of Medicine / Radiation Oncology

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine is a premier academic medical center located in the heart of Richmond. Accounting for almost half of VCU’s sponsored research, the School of Medicine is internationally recognized for patient care and education.

Introduction:
The Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Medical Physics, at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to perform cutting-edge research in medical physics, specifically on the clinical evaluation of the Canon 3T MR system.

Training:
This is a fully funded, 10 months, mentored research position in medical physics. The successful candidate will receive regular mentorship and will be given bountiful of opportunities to publish the findings in major peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications - Required:
-- PhD degree in physics, biomedical engineering, or a related field;
-- Motivated to work under interdisciplinary settings and with major vendors;
-- Strong writing skills;
-- Two or more first-author manuscripts in major journals in the field.

Qualifications - Preferred:
-- Demonstrated experience in MR applied to radiation oncology;
-- Demonstrated experience in CT and MR image processing;
-- Experience in scientific programming and computational skills;
-- Coursework or experience in statistical analysis;
-- Coursework from CAMPEP accredited graduate program with a minimum of 4 courses completed from the American Board of Radiology mandatory coursework for initial certification in medical physics/radiation oncology;
-- Research background in medical physics, biomedical engineering or related field.

Facility and Equipment:
Our team works on simulations, designs and clinically translatable solutions to improving radiation therapy. We have access to high-end servers (CPU and GPU), lab spaces, offices, collaborations with major vendors, and the necessary clinical systems including Varian, ViewRay and Canon. With in-house CAMPEP-accredited graduate, certificate and residency programs, our institution creates an interdisciplinary environment for sharing ideas, data, equipment and infrastructure amongst faculties, researchers and students.
