Postdoctoral Research Associate in Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. Todd Fox. The team is investigating sphingolipids in the etiology of diseases and sphingolipid-based therapeutics. The focus of this Department of Defense-funded position is to investigate sphingolipid metabolism and sphingolipid-based therapeutics in prostate cancer. We utilize in vitro and preclinical model systems as well as clinical specimens to investigate the functions of sphingolipids by a variety of approaches. These approaches include mass spectrometry, structural, biophysical, molecular, cellular, and biochemical methodologies.

We are looking for a postdoctoral Research Associate interested in the field of sphingolipid research. Outside-the-box ideas inspired by a candidate’s previous experience are also encouraged. We offer a supportive environment and design projects to meet each lab member’s career development goals.

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as cancer biology, biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, bioengineering, or an applicable related field and have a demonstrated publication track record. Strong skillsets in preclinical models of cancer and cellular biology are preferred. The candidate will be expected to contribute to manuscript preparation and preparation of proposals for funding.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check prior to their first day of employment and a health screening per University policy.
