We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Liu in the Biostatistics department, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). This postdoctoral researcher position is available immediately to develop efficient and intelligent query system to extract clinically relevant genomics information from large scale sequencing databases. The system to be developed will have strong impact in the field of cancer biology and precision medicine.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Biostatistics or Statistics; A strong background in Data Science or Bioinformatics; Must be self-motivated and reliable; Able to work both independently and as a part of a team; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to train, evaluate and supervise graduates and undergraduates and peer mentor assistants; Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with high throughput sequencing data analysis; Experience with machine learning and natural language processing; Experience with database implementation; Outstanding publication history; An interest in advancement and outstanding publication history
This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
