We are seeking a 12-month Postdoctoral Resident within the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) unit of the University of Virginia Department of Student Health and Wellness. This position will begin August 1, 2023.
Postdoctoral Resident Responsibilities:
Provide inclusive and integrative mental health services (screenings, intakes and individual and group psychotherapy) to UVA students presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns
Offer consultation and therapy for students presenting with eating concerns
Serve as a member of the Student Health and Wellness Eating Disorder Consultation and Treatment Team
Gain training and provides integrative services (e.g., biofeedback) under the supervision of CAPS clinical staff
Provide occasional mental health consultations for students referred by Medical Services under supervision of CAPS clinical staff
Intervene in crisis and emergency situations of a mental health nature with students, including after hours on-call responsibilities
Consult with faculty, staff, students, families, and other professionals regarding the mental health needs of students
Provide outreach programming to various groups within the university community
Provide clinical supervision and training to psychology interns and other trainees within the CAPS APA-accredited psychology internship training program
Maintain clinical records and provides clinical documentation and communication with external practitioners as necessary for ethical clinical treatment
Attend and participate in staff meetings, consultations, and professional development
Participate in UVA’s Coalition on Eating and Exercise Concerns.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited doctoral training program and a completed APA-approved internship prior to the position start date.
Demonstrated interest or experience in providing treatment for eating disorders
Demonstrated interest or experience in engaging in integrative and collaborative care with a range of health providers.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and work well in a team setting"
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Compensation
$48,000 with UVA benefits .
