The Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) in the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech, invites applications for the position of Open Rank Professor of Practice of Hospitality Management to begin August 2023. This position is a 9-month, academic year (August to May with possible summer teaching), full time teaching appointment. Applicants who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the inclusion and diversity goals of the university are encouraged to apply.
The selected individual will primarily teach sixteen credit hours per semester in culinary and academic courses, coordinate related departmental events, assist with curricular development, and serve on departmental and college committees.
A Master’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management or related field (extensive executive level of hospitality and tourism experience can waive the Master's requirement in exceptional cases only). Extensive professional experience in unit-level hospitality management operations. Demonstrated record of, or potential for, teaching topics related to food production and services. Relevant years of hospitality industry experience. Prior teaching experience in a culinary lab setting.
Experience/involvement in designing /building/renovating F&B facilities. Demonstrated experience in developing and coordination social events with food production and service components. Significant experiences in the culinary/food production field. Extensive networks in the hospitality and tourism industry.

The Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management is one of six Departments in the Pamplin College of Business. We are consistently ranked as one of the premier programs in the world. The Department offers a BS in Business with a major in Hospitality and Tourism Management, an MSBA with HTM concentration offered at the Falls Church campus, and a Ph.D. in Business with concentration on Hospitality and Tourism Management.
