Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).
The Workforce Services division at Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking a highly-motivated and entrepreneurial team member to provide leadership for customized and open enrollment programs in assigned industry area(s). Primary focus is on training in business, change management, communications, customer service, diversity, interpersonal skills and leadership development. This position works collaboratively with the division leadership and operations teams, as well as college and community partners, to develop and deliver high-quality, accelerated programs offered within Workforce Services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively seek out new opportunities for program development, partnerships, and revenue sources.
Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned programs to include curriculum, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, marketing, compliance and quality assurance.
Monitor regional, state and national trends in workforce development and assigned program areas. Lead updates of existing programs and development of dynamic partnerships and new programs to meet regional needs.
Ensure positive student experiences, high-quality instruction, and strong student and employer satisfaction for assigned programs.
Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate a strong adjunct faculty team.
Lead faculty in developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum. Ensure alignment of curriculum with credentialing agencies and employer needs. Mentor faculty in employing strategies to engage students and improve preparedness & performance.
Develop course schedule collaboratively with WFS leadership team. Work with employers to align course frequency and content with regional demands.
Work with coaches to collaboratively address student issues, develop remediation plans, and promote student completion, credentialing and employment.
Monitor enrollment, completion, credentialing, and job placement of students. Maintain accurate and timely program, student, enrollment, financial, and credential records.
Ensure compliance with accreditation, college, division and state policies/procedures.
Develop, modify and reconcile program budgets. Meet and exceed increasing revenue goals.
Ensure needed equipment, textbooks, and supplies are provided in a timely manner for programs.
Conduct targeted outreach and recruitment efforts with college and community partners for students and instructors. Collaboratively employ effective program marketing strategies.
Maintain communication with similar programs across the college, region, and state. Partner with college team members to share facilities and faculty.
Collaborate with college and community partners to align curricula along career pathways, and develop and implement customized training programs.
Serve on division, college, community and statewide committees and project teams as needed.
Note: Program Manager positions within Workforce Services are comparable to a department chair for degree/certificate programs, without expectation of teaching responsibilities. Assigned program portfolio may vary over time.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education or a field related to responsibilities.
Knowledge of community college and adult/continuing education programs.
Experience coordinating educational programs.
Strong sales and negotiation skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in education or field related to responsibilities.
Experience with community college, continuing education or workforce services programs.
Experience developing, managing, and evaluating business and customer service programs.
Experience developing, managing, and evaluating customized training for employers.
Experience conducting needs assessments and interviews with prospective clients.
Experience evaluating and aligning curricula to external standards.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple program types and instructional team members to meet dynamic programming demands.
Knowledge of VCCS academic and workforce programs.
Experience supervising and mentoring others in a collaborative, team environment.
Experience supporting employer needs in Central Virginia.
