“The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts. Works as part of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Data Management Team (DMT) to provide development, system analysis, technical architecture support, and peer troubleshooting assistance in support of the VDH Strategic Plan, help improve VDH decision making, optimize technical performance, and support VDH, OIM, and DMT operations. Acts as primary technical liaison between DMT and other OIM teams, VDH business units, COV agencies, and external parties. Primary position responsible for implementing, administering, and maintaining data warehousing, data reporting, and ETL systems.

Minimum Qualifications

•Candidate must possess knowledge and skills concerning basic server concepts; disaster recovery; storage management; distributed, client/server computing; and antivirus protection

•Candidate must possess knowledge and skills concerning basic Cloud computing concepts; connections between Cloud and on-prem resources; securing cloud resources; and basic troubleshooting

•Moderate to advanced capability to analyze data, identify/define business rules and implement transformation logic necessary to move data

•Basic to moderate knowledge in the use of AI / ML techniques and methodologies

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Ability to schedule and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner

•Strong IT project management skills, including ability to document, analyze data, and successfully interact with all levels of users

Additional Considerations

Leadership role in designing data warehouse environment
Experience migrating on-premises data environment to cloud solution (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Network administration experience
Windows domain administration experience
