UVA’s Office of University Advancement seeks applications for Prospect Researcher to join the Advancement Services team. Reporting to the Director for Prospect Development, the Prospect Researcher will conduct extensive research to identify prospective donors for the University. They compile, analyze, and verify biographical and financial information, and they develop comprehensive reports on potential donor prospects. Prospect Researchers organize and present information in comprehensive, standardized reports which are used to evaluate prospective donors, to determine the potential for productive relationships with the University, and to develop successful cultivation and solicitation strategies. Responsibilities include compiling and distributing profiles for use by development officers, campaign leadership, and executive leadership. Prospect Researchers prioritize their own work under supervision, and supervisors offer guidance on complex or difficult issues.
Responsibilities:
Compile, analyze, and verify biographical and financial information of past, present and potential donors, including business and institutional affiliations, giving histories, and past philanthropic tendencies.
Compile, analyze, and verify potential corporate and foundation donors, including giving interests and history, University and alumni affiliations, officers, financial data, local facilities, recruitment, sponsored research, and contacts.
Develop comprehensive reports on potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors, determining pertinent information based on a thorough understanding of the donor's background.
Assist in developing fundraising recommendations and participating in strategic planning efforts.
Judge source reliability and ensure accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality of research. Stay current on news sources to track news on prospects and update appropriate development officers in a timely manner.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education.

This position will remain open till filled. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. Anticipated Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 commensurate on education and experience. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
