Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean’s office, the College of Engineering enrolls more than 1,700 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in several degree programs supported by approximately 550 full-time, part-time, and student employees. We are seeking a talented and passionate scientist who is eager to be part of cutting edge science and development for protein therapeutics. The project offers unique opportunity to collaborate with scientists and engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medicinal chemistry, and/or protein crystallization, and biophysical/biochemical characterization. The current position is part-time, non-benefited limited to 28 hours per week, but possible to later convert to full-time benefited position based on performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree in biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, biophysics, structural biology, bioengineering, or other related field
Expertise in protein crystal and science (e.g., biophysics), and/or in protein analytical and stability characterization techniques, and/or in protein preparation and purification
Effective communication skills, such as composing manuscripts and presenting results
