Job Duties

Provide basic life skills training, psychological support, and personal hygiene for adult patients in an inpatient mental health facility. Duties include treatment plan implementation emphasizing personal care and behavioral, physical, & psycho-social development with the goal of self-reliance of patients served. Position requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions, and good interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read, writes and speak in the English language.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to satisfactorily complete the Institute training program for Psychiatric Technician certification within the first six months of employment.
Ability to maintain all required competencies including those designated for orientation, training and skill development and annual competencies.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and patients from varied backgrounds using effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to recognize the need for and ask for help or assistance in providing care and treatment.
Ability to document in legal records using narrative as well as checklist format.
Ability to give and receive effective feedback and perform as a member of a team.

Additional Considerations

Additional consideration for experience in a direct care position in one of the following health care settings: mental/behavioral health or substance abuse services. Degree in Psychology, Rehabilitative Services or other related majors can be substituted for experience. Valid driver’s license preferred.
