Job Duties

To ensure continuity and quality of care by serving as a clinical leader of multidisciplinary treatment teams. This position is responsible for the evaluation, planning, implementation, and coordination of psychiatric treatment and discharge planning for individuals admitted to SVMHI. Care is delivered in collaboration and consultation with patient care team physicians and primary care team consultants, with the goal of enhancing each individual’s functioning, recovery, and successful reintegration into the community.

Minimum Qualifications

Special Licenses: RN, Certified Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s license to practice in Virginia, Prescriptive authority for Nurse Practitioner in Virginia.

Education: Masters in Psych-Mental Health nursing.

Experience: Clinical experience in psychiatric nursing.

This position will also require:
Ability to take responsibility for total psychiatric care and partial general medical care of patient population.
Broad based knowledge of medication utilization and appropriate prescribing practices, including psychosocial rehabilitation/recovery models of intervention
Knowledge of medication utilization and appropriate prescribing practices
Good human relations skills
Able to perform on a flexible work schedule
Provide coverage for hospital patients as needed or requested by the Chief Medical Officer.

Additional Considerations

Experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in a psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long-term or correctional setting.
Veterans and people with National Service.
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
