Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
Our E&G Department has an entry level opportunity for a Quality Assurance Inspector, and as such, may open up to other position opportunities. There are currently two open positions for this role.
The position of QA Inspector assesses cleaning conditions in UVA buildings with attention and focus on details in various space types resulting in reasonable, logical, objective judgment calls based on defined cleaning standards.

In this position, you’ll receive extensive training from a professional, and then be on your own as you walk and monitor space types daily, scanning for cleaning deficiencies in academic buildings across Grounds. Weekly team meetings keep everyone focused and on the same page. You’ll also be encouraged to make suggestions to improve any aspect of your role. Here, we feel everyone’s voice should be heard and that those closest to the problem are best suited to find a solution.
This position is for the person who enjoys working solo but with the flexibility to reach out to colleagues and/or supervisor when needed.

Duties of the Quality Assurance Inspector include:
Helps internal customers (supervisors, managers, frontline) understand and support the QA process, including appearance items, weighting, and scoring.
Inspects spaces thoroughly, objectively and accurately based on the condition of appearance items and APPA level standards.
Utilizes electronic tools (iPad, iPhone, SharePoint, Microsoft Suite of tools, etc.) as part of performing daily inspections, including taking clear photos providing issue context and that supports scoring decisions, and supports supervisor in reviewing reports, generating statistical reports, and other projects as assigned.
Works with supervisors, managers, frontline, and other inspectors to achieve calibration of scoring, including being willing to change focus, process or observation style in order to reach sameness in scoring.
Prepares documentation tools (photo catalogs, tip sheets, etc.) for use in training and in communicating QA program guidelines.
Prepares action plans and work schedules, making adjustments as priorities or new information is presented.
Works with internal customers, as requested, to help improve quality results via training, instruction, demonstration and performing zone-specific tours to ensure understanding of QA’s role, including the why and how determinations are made.
Develops positive partnerships and relationships with team members, while remaining objective in performing duties of the inspector role.
Position Compensation - $17 - $20 Hourly based on experience , plus $500 one-time sign on bonus. This is a full-time, overtime eligible position with UVA benefits including:
22 days of paid time off, increasing with service; 13+ paid holidays each year, in addition to paid time off; Parental and Community Service Leave: and 3 days Bereavement Leave

Requirements :
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: O ne year of relevant or equivalent experience
Preferred Experience: Experience in performing quality inspections in a service or other industry. Knowledgeable about APPA levels/custodial services. Must be able to demonstrate keen observation, attention to detail, and make objective, sound judgments quickly and accurately, while performing a minimum number of inspections daily as directed by the QA Manager.
Licensure: Valid Driver's license, with a zero or positive points balance. This license must be maintained while employed in this position.
The selected candidate will be required to complete all necessary background checks.
Physical Demands:
This position works in the field 90% of the time assessing the quality of spaces cleaned. It requires walking, standing, climbing stairs, stooping, observing, using both hands to hold iPad and enter data or take photos, etc.
