Summary: Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice Provost for REAL the QEP Support Specialist will be responsible for providing clerical support and fulfilling administrative tasks related to VCU’s development of a Quality Enhancement Plan, a required component of reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Universities participate in institutional accreditation as a commitment to quality and peer evaluation in higher education, and institutional accreditation enables VCU to participate in a suite of federal programs, including federal financial aid, research funding, and federal support of university operations. The Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP.
Typical Duties: This position will also serve as a general support and resource for administrators, faculty and staff engaged in the QEP’s development and in the reaffirmation of accreditation by SACSCOC project during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 Academic Years. Typical duties will include:
Supporting the Quality Enhancement Plan development and submission process, to include:
Providing clerical and administrative support to the QEP development and writing teams
Event planning
Facilitating communications and marketing
Other duties as assigned to support the priorities of Academic Affairs
Typical Required Education and Experience:
Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and database software.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
Analytical skills to make independent decisions and consult with the supervisor as necessary.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Outstanding customer service and an a high degree of professionalism
Ability to accurately follow instructions and serve as a resource to other administrative staff regarding policies and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to set and meet deadlines
Effective/excellent communication, verbally and in writing
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately and with discretion Preferred Education and Experience:
Job Specific Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
Light lifting (less than 20 lb), fast pace, multiple stimulation, intense customer interaction, frequent change, memory, reasoning, hearing, reading, analyzing, logic, and verbal and written communication.
