Duties & Responsibilities:
The Bike Technician supports the mission of RamBikes by inspecting and repairing bicycles
brought to the facility and in the RamBikes rental fleet. This position also assists in promoting
VCU’s alternative transportation options and sustainability goals. In addition to staffing the shop,
the Bike Technician will assist with planning and implementing strategies to improve bike
culture at VCU and in Richmond in collaboration with various departments, offices, or
community programs. This particular position will also assist in advertising bicycle services to
the campus population through various marketing strategies and social media.
The RamBikes Technician position is an hourly position that staffs the RamBikes shop during
open hours, which will be Monday-Friday 10:00AM-4:00PM. RamBike Technicians should expect to work
four of the five open shop days, 9:30AM-4:30PM. This will primarily be in the shop, but there
may be additional hours or duties during the work week assisting the bike coordinator with
tabling at university events, co-teaching workshops, supporting special programs and
partnerships, and supporting VCU and community bike events. This position may work up to 29
hours/week.
Some duties include, but are not limited to:
Fix and maintain bicycles used for RamBikes bike loan program
Fix bicycles for VCU Community on as-needed basis
Assist with bike/alternative transportation educational programs and special events
Perform clerical and administrative work
Other duties as assigned
