We’re currently searching for a Health Promotion Coordinator to join our Hokie Wellness team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re passionate about supporting student success and well-being, please keep reading.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the Hokie Wellness team; a department centered on fostering a healthier Virginia Tech community by providing prevention services, education, outreach, and resources to employees and students.
2) You’ll be reporting to the Recovery Community Assistant Director, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. 
3) You’ll be responsible for supporting the initiatives of Hokie Wellness through their work with the Virginia Tech Recovery Community.
4) You'll support the mission of the department and university by providing programming and services designed to encourage and support healthy lifestyles for students in recovery.
5) You'll provide direct support to The Roost Living Learning Program as the Program Director, as well as assist in facilitating group meetings, one-on-one student conversations, managing the recovery lounge, and planning engagement activities for students in recovery.
6) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
7) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $51,000 - $53,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree OR qualifications as a Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) in addition to at least one direct experience working with a collegiate recovery community (or closely related experience). We welcome and value the lived experience of individuals in recovery.
• Understanding of young adult issues, emerging needs, and top concerns
• Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating recovery support initiatives and programs
•Ability to facilitate groups and perform services with a diverse population of students, alumni, staff, and faculty
• Ability to maintain ethical standards of professional care and confidentiality
• Commitment to diversity, social justice, and creating inclusive environments
• Understanding and knowledge of harm-reduction, substance use disorders, recovery, and recovery support services
• Familiarity with various pathways to recovery and a recovery-oriented continuum of care
• Ability to create and maintain collaborative partnerships across campus and within the community
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends: Typically at least 1 evening per week, with opportunities provided to recoup time worked.

Preferred Qualifications
• Qualifications as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (C-PRS), Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), or other related or equivalent certification
• Professional experience working in higher education, with an emphasis on direct student interaction
• Professional and/or personal experience collaborating, volunteering, or working with collegiate recovery community organizations
