Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist to provide one-on-one clinical nutrition counseling services to University students. This position reports to the Senior Nutrition Educator in the Office of Health Promotion. This is an hourly wage position, working 2-4 days per week during the academic year. The position will not work during winter and summer breaks in the academic calendar.

The Nutritionist will conduct nutrition assessments and offer ongoing nutritional counseling to undergraduate and graduate level students at the university. In developing nutrition care plans, the Nutritionist will collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary healthcare providers to support students’ optimal health and well-being. The Nutritionist will uphold a non-diet, weight neutral practice philosophy and have exceptionally strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

--Provide one-on-one clinical nutrition services to students.

o Conduct nutrition assessments and counsel patients presenting with health and wellness concerns including eating disorders, weight management, food allergies/intolerances, cardiovascular health, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, sports nutrition, and vegetarianism.

--Ensure continuity of nutritional care for those needing services outside of the scope of Student Health provision.
o Facilitate referral to community providers as needed.

--Coordinate care with multi-disciplinary healthcare treatment team members as needed.
o Attend treatment team meetings as available; collaborate with providers by phone or email communication as necessary.

--Document care.
o Review and write notes in the Electronic Medical Record (Medicat).

• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Dedication to the educational purposes of the Department of Student Health and Division of Student Affairs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: Two years experience as nutritionist or dietitian

Licensure: Registered Dietician through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)/Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
