Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of a REGISTERED DETITIAN (PROGRAM ADMIN SPECIALIST I).
This position provides quality comprehensive nutritional care to patients by maintaining appropriate and accurate nutritional documentation in accordance with CMS, OBRA, TJC, state and hospital policies in geriatric and adult Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR); serves as a liaison to medical and nursing personnel in order to enhance the effectiveness of the nutritional treatment of patients; monitors quality of care through ongoing quality improvement; and assists in menu planning and nutritional analysis as needed.
The qualified candidate will have a basic knowledge of the principles and practices of nutrition and dietetics; of the regulations and standards governing the nutrition programs; and of the principles of supervision and program planning; demonstrated ability to perform nutritional assessment, evaluation and planning; and the ability to plan programs: coordinate with staff and interdisciplinary teams.
In addition, performing the essential functions of this position requires prolonged sitting, manual dexterity on keyboard; bending, stooping routine lifting of 50 pounds or 25% of body weight, whichever is less.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion and maintenance of the requirements for being a Registered Dietitian (RD) as established by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.(AND).
Graduate from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nutrition, dietetics or health related program.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of nutrition and dietetics, regulations and standards governing nutrition programs, and principles of supervision and ability to plan programs coordinating with staff and interdisciplinary teams.
Additional Considerations
Experience working with adult and/or geriatric psychiatric patients.

These positions are hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.
