Job Description

We’re currently searching for a Registered Nurse to join our Schiffert Health Center team in Blacksburg, VA, to help us in our mission. So, if you would like to make a difference in the health and well-being of our VT students, please keep reading.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the Schiffert Health Center team; a department centered on the health and well-being of the Virginia Tech student population.
2) You’ll be reporting to the Nurse Supervisor, in a regular nine-month, 100% university staff appointment.
3) You’ll provide professional nursing care and health services, including testing, nursing assessment, allergy injections, and first aid to students.
4) You'll disseminate health services information and provide specialized assistance and counseling regarding individual health needs.
5) You'll maintain a variety of health records, determine health education/promotion needs, and develop action plans.
6) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
7) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $52,905 - $55,556, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
• Demonstrates excellent professional nursing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to relate well with both patients and fellow workers.
• Demonstrates empathy for patients.
• Makes independent clinical judgments.
• Computer/Electronic Medical Record experience.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications
• Certification in College Health Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Certified as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE).
• Experience in a college health setting.
