Assess patients’ health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans and maintain medical records. Administer entry level nursing care to ill, injured, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance, disease prevention or provide case management. This role is for candidates with no psychiatric healthcare experience. Candidates can be move into a Registered Nurse II position after 1 year at DBHDS or demonstrating a thorough understanding of competencies relating to psychiatric healthcare
Knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric disorders and physical, psychological and social needs of the psychiatric patient
Skilled in delegating nursing activities to ensure quality of care
Ability to use electronic health record for charting purposes
Current RN license or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of VA
Ability to work as member of an interdisciplinary treatment team
Previous experience working in an inpatient psychiatric hospital preferred.
