Deliver highly specialized neurological care in a setting where your clinical judgment, compassion, and teamwork directly influence patient recovery and outcomes. This role offers the flexibility of a wage position within a high-acuity, 30-bed neuroscience unit. You will work alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive care to patients with a wide range of neurological conditions while maintaining control over your schedule.

The Role:

As a Registered Nurse on 6 West, you will practice in a fast-paced acute care neuroscience environment that blends advanced clinical care with meaningful patient and family interactions. This unit supports patients across neurology, neurosurgery, stroke, and neuro-trauma populations, creating a dynamic and intellectually engaging practice setting.

In your day-to-day practice, you will:
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, interventions, care coordination, and patient/family education
  • Care for patients with conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, seizures, brain tumors, hydrocephalus, and multiple sclerosis
  • Deliver care across neurology, neurosurgery, and neuro-trauma service lines, with occasional exposure to additional patient populations
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care
  • Utilize core clinical skills such as advanced physical assessment and safe medication administration


The pace of this unit requires strong clinical judgment and adaptability, while the nature of neuroscience care offers both challenge and reward. You will witness meaningful patient progress throughout recovery, while also providing compassionate care during critical and end-of-life moments.

Schedule and Flexibility:
  • Wage role with six12-hour shifts within a 6-week scheduling period
  • No on-call requirements
  • Opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on your availability

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
