As a Registered Nurse in Pediatric Acute Care, you will practice within a Magnet-recognized health system, advancing your skills while contributing to a nationally respected pediatric program known for clinical quality and academic rigor.

The Role

This is a fast-paced, high-acuity pediatric unit where clinical judgment, teamwork, and adaptability are essential. You will care for a diverse pediatric population, balancing technical skill with compassionate, family-centered care.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide evidence-based nursing care to pediatric patients with varying levels of acuity
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, identifying subtle changes and intervening appropriately
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans
  • Educate and support families, helping them navigate complex diagnoses and care transitions
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, quality improvement, and accountability
  • Engage in unit-based initiatives that elevate patient care and team effectiveness


Your day will include a mix of routine clinical care and complex patient management, requiring strong prioritization skills, clinical confidence, and the ability to respond effectively in evolving situations. Minimum Qualifications -
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.


Physical Demands - Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

Compensation -

New hire compensation will be determined by previous work experience, education, and/or experience.

Onboarding Requirements

Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.

The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
