Join a highly collaborative 26-bed acute care unit where you will care for a diverse patient population spanning trauma, hepatobiliary, ENT, plastic surgery, and emergency general surgery. The Role:

5 West offers a dynamic clinical environment where no two shifts are alike. You will play a central role in managing high-acuity patients while working closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care.

In this role, you will:
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuous monitoring in an acute care setting
  • Administer medications safely while managing evolving patient conditions
  • Recognize and respond to early signs of clinical deterioration
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and care teams to optimize outcomes
  • Execute provider orders, coordinate admissions and discharges, and support care transitions
  • Deliver hands-on patient care including ADLs and education to patients and families
  • Contribute to a culture of teamwork, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement


You will gain exposure to a wide range of skills and procedures, including post-operative surgical care, wound and drain management, feeding tubes, and complex medication therapies.

Schedule Options:
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Full-Time: 36 hours per week (3 shifts)
  • Part-Time: 24 hours per week (2 shifts)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
