The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a research assistant to assist with patient data and other computational research. The successful candidate will act as a specialist on research methods and equipment functions specific to investigations.
The successful candidate will:
Perform data entry, cleaning, analysis, and presentation.
Assist in preparation and writing of grant proposals, research presentations, and manuscripts.
Maintain and organize research group files and documents.
Participate in research meetings with national and international collaborators.
Participate in analyzing and interpreting experimental results in the context of the medical field.
Provide basic assistance to researchers in manipulating, computing, and analyzing data.
Perform library and literature research.
Specialize in research methods and equipment functions specific to Principal Investigators. Demonstrate expertise in troubleshooting problems and recommending solutions. Perform a variety of tests requiring high degree of proficiency.
Assist in training other staff members on procedures.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
3 years of experience. 6 years of lab-related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Physical Demands:
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
