The Jomaa lab employs a combination of molecular biology, biochemical, and structural biology approaches to investigate molecular mechanisms regulating the protein synthesis machinery during cellular stress. In particular, we are interested in protein localization to mitochondria and how it is impacted in dormant cancer cells. We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our group to employ biochemical techniques and high-resolution structure determination of snapshots of the protein synthesis machinery together with the regulatory factors using single particle cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) in addition to cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET). Experience with yeast genetics, biochemistry, and/or mammalian cell culture is required. Expertise with structural biology techniques is desirable but not required.
