The Zeitlin Lab in the Department of Neuroscience and the Center of Brain Immunology and Glia at the University of Virginia is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate neuroimmune interactions in Huntington’s disease with a focus on meningeal lymphatic function, microglia and inflammasome activation in a variety of Huntington’s disease mouse models.

Candidates should have the ability to work creatively and independently in the development of research projects, demonstrate a track record of planning, performing, and publishing original research, and possess effective oral and written communication skills. In addition, experiences in working with mouse models and supervising undergraduate students and/or technicians is preferred.

The Research Associate position is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.

Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University. Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: A PhD degree in Neuroscience, Immunology, or related fields prior to start date.
