The Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging's Research Division is seeking candidates for a full-time Research Associate position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing novel imaging agents of oxidative stress using Positron Emission Tomography (PET). The ideal candidate should have a strong background in synthetic chemistry and/or radiochemistry, relevant cell culture training, some experience in small animal work, and an interest in in vivo imaging and translational chemistry. The successful applicant will work as part of a collaborative team and will have access to a wide range of equipment, including a trimodal PET/SPECT/CT scanner, on-site cyclotron, 18F and 11C synthesis modules, hot cells, and liquid scintillation equipment, automated HPLCs and more. A dedicated cell and molecular biology laboratory, fully equipped for biological assays, will also be available.
A Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Science or related background is required at the time of hire with 0-3 years of postdoctoral experience. Qualified candidates must have experience providing leadership to small groups and must be able to work independently once objectives are defined and methods of approach have been set. They must have good track record of scientific publication in the field.
Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University.
Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.
