The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia invites applicants to apply for multiple Research Scientist positions. Duties include: design and performance of experiments exploring the basic processes of cell proliferation, gene expression or cancer progression. Experiments require a working knowledge of techniques commonly used in molecular biology and cell biology. Further information about our faculty is located at https://bmg.med.virginia.edu/ .
The selected candidate will have additional responsibilities of meeting weekly with the Principal Investigator to discuss experimental results, conduct literature searches, present results in weekly lab meetings and at conferences as well as in interdepartmental seminars.
The qualified candidate must work independently and ethically, document all research data appropriately, assist graduate students in the lab, apply for independent funding where applicable, and publish data in qualified journals. The completion of a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in Biochemistry or a related field is required in addition to a minimum of three years in an academic lab setting.
This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in Biochemistry or a related field is required.
Experience: Demonstrated ability to work with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows is preferred.
