Safety Officers are responsible for the supervision and development of biosafety staff, and may serve as Responsible Official or Alternate Responsible Official for Select Agents. They provide biosafety related consultation and training to faculty, staff, and students as necessary to enhance safety awareness and compliance with applicable regulations. .
Develop, implement, and direct a comprehensivesafety program throughout all research lab and clinical areas.
Review and approve protocols involving the use of infectious agents.
Coordinate the acquisition of biological agents by the university and perform all required inspections.
Audit laboratories and work practices.
Develop and conduct educational programs for faculty, staff and students to improve biological safety.
Investigate accidents and incidents involving biological agents and materials.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $59,072.00 - $94,515.20 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master's in a related field. Experience: None Licensure: Safety Professional certification or equivalent.
