Job Duties
The Virginia State Bar is looking for a highly motivated individual to supervise, train, and review the work of assistant clerks, while processing docket work for assigned bar counsel. In this role, you will ensure that case records and documents are processed correctly, consistently, and timely according to established policies and procedures. In consultation with the Clerk of the Disciplinary System, you will resolve issues that arise, and you will recommend and implement processes to improve efficiency and quality standards. You will also apply leadership skills by providing helpful coaching to staff; handling conflict and differences fairly and constructively; and leading by example. This position is required to work in the Richmond office. Employees are eligible to telework one day per week after six months.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have relevant experience in a legal setting, supervisory/leadership experience, and the following requirements:
• a proven self-starter who is dependable, detail-oriented and organized
• critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• strong verbal and written communication skills
• exceptional proof-reading skills
• demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work, exercise good judgment, take initiative, and work under pressure and within tight timelines
• demonstrated ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships
• experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat and proficiency with databases and other computer processes
• the ability to learn and apply Supreme Court of Virginia Rules and Regulations
• successful completion of criminal background check
