The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) is seeking a detail oriented individual to facilitate a wide range of activities surrounding VRS’ employer confirmation process. This position will ensure departmental metrics are met in a timely manner; provide analysis, guidance and problem solving to assist employers with issues encountered during the reconciliation and confirmation processes. Additionally, this position will troubleshoot technical issues with VNAV functionality and will maintain several workflow queues initiated by forms and employer actions.
Additional duties and responsibilities include:
Maintains knowledge of all current VRS administered plans and benefits including eligibility requirements for the various retirement plans and ancillary benefits.
Serves as primary knowledge source and support for file exchanges between VRS and VRS partners, agencies, employers, and third-party vendors.
Works with VRS participating employers, members, and VRS staff to analyze and resolve the most complex issues related to member records.
Submits detailed requests for code changes.
Assigns, review and approves the work of other team members as required.
Assists in execution of the fiscal year end process and projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Five years of experience in research and analysis.
To be successful in this position, the candidate must possess:
Proficiency with MS Office including advanced Excel skills and with large databases.
Ability to be trained to use VRS software and systems.
Knowledge of VRS products and services.
Strong analytical, organization and research skills; customer service experience; effective verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to translate business requirements to programming staff.
Aptitude for working with electronic file submissions, ability to interpret file requirements, and communicate findings to employers.
Knowledge of employee benefits and pension administration in a public setting.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply administrative, legal and regulatory guidelines.
Ability to present ideas to others and work with others on teams; establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally, work with a high degree of independence, meet deadlines, and use good judgment.

VRS operates in a hybrid work model. Employees work 2 days onsite and 3 days remote. Candidates selected for any position must be able to come into the office on remote days when required.
