The University of Virginia Financial Operations organization seeks a Senior Payment Card Compliance Analyst. The Senior Analyst is responsible for maintaining, enhancing and monitoring the University's credit card compliance program. The Senior Analyst will assist in performing internal assessments of credit card compliance and efficiency. The incumbent will work directly with operational units and ITS to recommend processing solutions and to re mediate compliance issues. The Senior Payment Card Compliance Analyst reports to the Director of Financial Operations and is responsible for operations and compliance at the University's Academic Division and College at Wise.

The Senior Payment Card Compliance Analyst is responsible for processing account applications, developing appropriate internal controls, ensuring that credit card processing is efficient and minimizes institutional risk, and implementing systems and procedures that comply with applicable laws and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards. The Senior Analyst acts as UVA Finance's liaison to internal and external auditors on PCI matters, and manages interactions with its external PCI consultant.

The position requires considerable customer service skills when working with University departments to explain complex and technical PCI compliance issues. Candidates must be able to clearly communicate information and ideas in oral presentations and in written documents, apply general rules to specific problems, and combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions. The Senior Analyst will self-manage time-sensitive directives and work with team members of all levels.

This position requires both independent initiative as well as an ability to fully engage in team collaboration on both administrative duties as well as functional skills and overall process improvement.


Compliance Reviews and Assessments
  • Monitor changes in industry regulations and modify policies and procedures as necessary by interfacing with multiple functional areas to develop a comprehensive PCI monitoring program.
  • Manage internal credit card audits by coordinating with various cross-functional teams.
  • Distribute and compile SAQ's annually.
  • Administer and evaluate the results associated with the Internal Control Questionnaire and develop an action plan to address any identified issues.
  • Develop and provide relevant management reports that include metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Credit Card Monitoring Program
  • Write, update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including ensuring appropriate documentation.
  • Evaluate reports to monitor usage of various swipe terminals, and any related compliance issues.
  • Ensure the proper institutional reporting is in place and effectively monitor and distribute ELAVON and Amex charges and the commerce manager transaction fees to various University operational units.

Merchant Database and PCI Website
  • Update database with all University merchant data.
  • Publish procedures and other relevant guidance.
  • Maintain and update the Payment Card Website.

Policy, Procedure and Training
  • Identify opportunities to increase and enhance outreach and training activities.
  • Benchmark best practices within higher education as well as within industry, government, and non-profit organizations.
  • Participate in the clear and consistent communication of compliance information, expectations, and requirements to University stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain respectful, cooperative and productive work relationships with co-workers, team members, project leads, supervisor and other members of the University community.

Required/Preferred Qualifications:

Experience : 2+ years of experience in a payment card/PCI-DSS compliance role preferred.

Computer Applications : Excel, Word, Office 365, Workday (HCM or other) required.
