The Department of Economics in the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences seeks a Senior Student Services Coordinator for its undergraduate program. The position will work directly with the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and perform a wide variety of functions to support and maintain the Economics undergraduate program.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

Undergraduate Program Coordinator General Administration (60%)
  • Advise prospective majors and minors on the requirements of the Economics degree and lead them through the declaration process if found eligible.
  • Monitor and update changes to student degree process by using the Student Information System (SIS) and University Business Intelligence (UBI).
  • Organize and manage the Economics diploma ceremony and graduation reception.
  • Manage all undergraduate communications via email and departmental website.
  • Assist with course scheduling and new course/curriculum changes.


Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) Administrative Support (35%)
  • Assist in tracking student data for the department (i.e., number of majors/minors, graduation rates).
  • Key student exceptions in SIS when granted by the DUS.
  • Assist with transfer student orientation and advise new transfer students through the summer months.
  • Advise students on study abroad requirements for course approval; consult with DUS for approval and completion of the study abroad transfer credit form.


General Administrative Support (5%)
  • Provide back-up coverage to the department when administrative staff are unavailable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, as well as four years of student related administrative support experience required. Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be a self-starter who can work independently on a variety of tasks, while balancing competing priorities.
  • Have high attention to detail, and the ability to interpret, apply, and communicate policy and procedure at a level appropriate to the intended audience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the UVA Student Information System (SIS), University Business Intelligence, UVA Qliksense Analytics, Curriculog, Docusign and Workday platforms.
  • Ability to build and foster relationships.
  • Experience with basic webpage updating via Drupal.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
